FIRST HOMES. OTTAWA MAGAZINE.

This past fall I had the chance to develop a series for Ottawa Magazine. We talked about lay-out ideas and want they were generally looking for. Having worked with the magazine for some time now, they give me more and more freedom in what I can do with the portraits. And I gotta say, this might be the most fun I got shooting. I like to laugh and when I can get a good chuckle and a good pic while I work, it makes for a good day. The Real Estate issue is now out in local Ottawa stands. Here's a scan of the cover with the shots from the series. I added some extra photos just cause.

Glen and Lena. Cover and inside shot.

Anthoy and Tianna. Rodrigue. Both in mag.

JP and Amy. Inside shot and extra creepy peeps in the window. Got lucky with the cat crawling through.

Aidan, Johannah and all the kids. Inside pic with kids being kids. Actually I was the first one to make the monkey face.

André and Annique. Inside and spare. No cats and husbands were harmed in the photo.

Ryan and Rachelle. Inside and other photos of the goofing off outside.

Hockey tournament in PEI.

Quick holiday back home. Great to see old friends and spend some time on the ice. Although can't say my body was ready for six games in three days.

ROUGH AND TOUGH.

While in a small town of Louisiana, we got talking with a pawn shop owner about guns in the Southern States. After about an hour or so of back and forth conversation, he suggested we joined him the next day to try it out. Why not.

Outside pawn shop waiting for coach.

Also had four handguns...no pictures.

STUDIO GIRLS.

I got the chance to photograph in the studio a couple of weeks ago. I had been wanting to free up time to add some studio shots to my portfolio since I generally find myself photographing people in various environments. I find it a little more personal to photograph someone in the studio. You basically have them and your lights to play with. Not to mention also being an entertainer so no one finds you too boring during the shoot, although I did want the girls to look bored during some shots, so I had to pipe down and stop dancing. (I get excited when I take pictures, especially if James Brown is on my playlist).

Alyxia

Simple, clean headshots.

My prom date didn't show up look.

Needed a little convincing, but got Alyxia to yell at me.

And than laugh at me, no convincing needed.

First shot, playing with photoshop. Second shot is prom date not showing up on polaroid.

Jennilee

She gets photographed a lot in town, no need to ask why. Often I've seen Jennilee all glamoured up, so I decided I wanted to do something different. I knew Jennilee before the shoot, and know is a very bubbly person, so I decided to go dark with the shots. And to boot Jennilee is a great gal and fabulous artist. You should check out some of her work HERE.

Digi shots.

To switch it up I wanted to do some kind of point and shoot look. So I dusted off my D70s and cranked it to ISO 1600. I personally like it.

US SOUTH - NEW WORK.

Finally got some photos together from the trip South. Now isn't the best way to showcase new work...by scanning prints and no post. Made a quick selection and thought better to show then not to show no photos.

Most of the shooting was done around motels in various cities of Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi. Usually having about 15 - 20 minutes to take a couple of snaps. I would from time to time stop the car and jump out to snap something on a side street.

MOTELS.

ROOMS.

WALKS.

I am the process of deciding what is going to happen with these photos. Obviously the amount will be cut, picking what I think best work as a series. Would love to here what you think. I'm open to criticism and comments as long as your honest.

I REALLY NEED A SCANNER.

Jennilee.

Alyxia.

This is what was supposed to go up, but reproducing with the DSLR didn't do much for quality. We got a cheap scanner at the house and I'll try to hook it up for a better show.

US SOUTH - TOURIST PICS.

Voici quelques photos prises avec ma petite caméra numérique. Malheureusement, j'ai oublié la pile et le chargeur à Greenville...

Sun setting while on the bus to Montreal.

Ron and my Oakley Frogskins...that I broke in Toronto.

Waiting for lunch.

Hey Rocky! When did that happen?

Ha Yaaa...if I had a little army...

I want to try...this one today.

Imagine the bottom half of the photo...you don't want to.

BOO!

This weekend, pics from the Hasselblad.
