3 DAYS. 3 SHOWS. 5 PHOTOS.

Last weekend was fun. I got to guest photo-blog with Artengine and Apt613 for Electric Fields, a great sound and visual event that usually happens every two years, but decided to to a couple events. Check out Electric Fields on the web, cause you can still to the Polytectures tour.

This weekend is also going to be busy as I'm participating in three group exhibitions. First one is tomorrow at the Art Rentals space in the Arts Court. Collectibles was put together by Stephanie Germano and should be great show. I have two pieces from Road Stories which I saved for this and are not shown at my exhibition at Town at the moment.

I work on a new piece for Friday night, Lets Go To Another Art Show. I got invited by Daniel Martelock to this show and it should be good. I went through photos from a year ago, a summer vacation in PEI. This was taken at North Cape, a place a like to visit when I go East.

I'm also pretty excited about Saturday exhibition for Gallery 101. Once a year as a fundraiser for the gallery, they put together Frames - a group show of great local artist. In the last couple of years, they've ran with the theme the seven deadly sins and I got to say I got excited for this years sin, Gluttony. I like to eat so I thought to make something fun.

FLANDERS FIELD.

Like most, I had many different jobs before I took up photography as a career. Probably the most memorable was an interviewer for Veteran Affairs Canada. We did some hundred interviews across Canada during a 6 month period. They gave me a list of questions to ask, but after a while I developed my own style and was able to go where I wanted within a certain guideline.  I am grateful to have the chance to meet some of the countries most amazing people, to tail gunners in WWII bombers, to front line infantry men, to nurses and doctors, mechanics, to people who stayed in Canada to help with the mobilization at home. They all had a great stories to tell and I thank them for sharing those experiences with. Heroes Remember was the project I worked on and you can research some interviews HERE.

In September, I spent 5 days photographing WWI sites. I considered myself knowlogeable in WWII but wanted to know more about the first great war. I set out to photograph important sites over France and Belgium. I hope to prepare a series of photos for next fall. Here's two photos of Flander's Field.
